Keep this in your wallet or on your phone.

GO TO THE ER IMMEDIATELY IF YOU NOTICE:

1. Sudden Shortness of Breath

  • struggling to breathe
  • unable to speak in full sentences
  • using neck or chest muscles to breathe

2. Oxygen Saturation Dropping

  • SpO₂ < 88% (if using a pulse oximeter)
  • bluish lips or fingertips

3. Change in Mental State

  • confusion
  • drowsiness
  • new agitation

These may signal high carbon dioxide levels.

4. Severe Chest Tightness or Wheezing

Especially if not relieved by rescue inhaler.

5. High Fever or Suspected Pneumonia

  • fever > 38°C
  • chills
  • cough with yellow/green sputum
  • chest pain when breathing

6. No Relief After 2 Nebulizations

If rescue treatment isn’t working, go to the ER.

7. Difficulty Walking or Doing Simple Tasks

When normal activities suddenly become impossible.

Emergency Reminder

Bring:

  • all inhalers
  • list of medications
  • pulse oximeter (if available)
  • PhilHealth/insurance card
  • last outpatient prescription
