The Payatas Primary Care and Ambulatory Surgical (same-day surgery) Center

By Dr. Juan “Jim” Sanchez

Dear Friends,

I am currently close to completing the construction of a 3-floor Healthcare and Surgical Service and Training Center, built largely by repurposing old container vans.

The Center will serve as a Primary Care and Ambulatory Surgical (same-day surgery) Center, providing much-needed healthcare services to the four large barangays of Payatas, with a combined population of approximately 300,000, as well as to neighboring communities.

It will also serve as a training center for doctors, dentists, optometrists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, where we hope to share knowledge, skills, and practical experience with the next generation of healthcare workers.

More importantly, we envision this project as a prototype or model that government agencies, private organizations, and even individuals can adopt and replicate in other underserved communities. By creatively recycling and repurposing old container vans, we can build functional healthcare facilities at a much lower cost while addressing the serious shortage of healthcare services in our country.

This is a small project, but we hope it can demonstrate that with creativity, compassion, and collective effort, we can find practical solutions to our healthcare challenges.

I sincerely hope that our experience in Payatas can inspire others to explore similar initiatives.

Together, we can bring healthcare closer to the people who need it most.

Thank you, and God bless us all.
