PUBLIC STATEMENT ON ETHICS COMPLAINT?

By Dr. Anthony “Tony” Leachon
Physician • Advocate for Health Reform

I acknowledge the recent calls by certain medical professionals, including House Deputy Speaker Rep. Janette Garin, urging the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) to investigate me over alleged violations of medical ethics.

With humility and sincerity, I affirm that my lifelong advocacy has always been anchored on one principle: the protection of patients and the pursuit of truth in public health. My statements on the Dengvaxia controversy were never meant to malign colleagues, but to highlight issues of accountability and transparency that continue to affect thousands of Filipino families who lost loved ones.

It is deeply regrettable that these efforts to speak for victims are now being met with harassment and attempts to silence me. I respect due process and the institutions tasked to uphold professional standards, but I call on them to ensure that investigations are not weaponized to intimidate those who stand for justice.

No amount of pressure or disciplinary threats can erase the facts surrounding the Dengvaxia cases, nor diminish the right of victims’ families to seek justice. As a physician and citizen, I remain steadfast in my duty to speak out when public health and patient welfare are at stake.

At the same time, I will answer the complaint in due course, as it is premature to make further statements at this point.

This is not about personalities—it is about accountability, compassion, and the moral responsibility we owe to the Filipino people. I will continue to stand firm, guided by conscience, faith, and the enduring belief that truth must never be silenced.
